I know that choosing someone to care for your pet can come with lots of questions. So, I’ve answered some of the most common ones below.
And if you have a question that isn’t answered here, please just ask, there are no silly questions! 😊
Your Questions, Answered
-
Yes, please! I offer a free initial consultation so that we can meet, discuss your requirements and, most importantly, I can get to know your pet.
It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions and make sure you’re completely comfortable with me caring for your pet.
-
This depends on the service you choose and what is best for your dog. I’ll always discuss your dog’s needs, temperament and preferences with you before arranging their walks.
Not every dog enjoys being part of a group — and that’s absolutely fine!
-
The length of the walk will depend on the service you book. Your dog's age, fitness, breed and individual needs will also be taken into consideration.
The aim is to provide a suitable and enjoyable walk rather than simply trying to cover as much ground as possible.
-
That's absolutely fine — just let me know during our initial consultation.
I want every pet to feel safe and comfortable, so I'll always take your dog's individual personality, behaviour and needs into consideration. Please be completely honest with me about any behavioural or health-related issues so I can provide the safest possible care.
-
British weather is unpredictable — unfortunately, I haven't yet found a way to negotiate with it! ☔
If the weather is unsuitable or unsafe for your dog, such as extreme heat, thunderstorms or dangerous conditions, I may shorten, postpone or adapt the walk. Your dog's safety always comes first.
-
Yes! I offer house and pet sitting so your pets can stay in their familiar surroundings while you're away.
We'll discuss exactly what your pets need, including feeding, walks, medication where appropriate, playtime, cuddles and any usual routines.
-
We'll agree on the safest and most convenient way for me to access your property during our initial consultation.
I treat keys and access information responsibly and will never leave your home unsecured.
-
Yes, absolutely. For your peace of mind, I am fully insured, and have a clear DBS check which I am happy to show you. I am dog first-aid qualified and a member of NarpsUK (The National Association of Registered Pet Sitters).
-
Yes. Really. 😂
My dog waste garden clearance service is exactly what it says on the tin — I will clear the dog waste from your garden and place it safely into your own bin.
You can book a one-off clearance or arrange regular visits.
-
No. Dog waste will be placed into your own designated bin. I do not remove waste from your property.
-
Yes. I can provide care for cats and other small pets as part of my pet care services.
Every pet is different, so we'll discuss their individual routine, feeding requirements and anything else they need.
-
Where appropriate, I can administer routine medication that you provide and clearly explain to me. This will be discussed and agreed during the consultation.
I cannot administer medication that I am not comfortable or appropriately trained to give.
-
Yes! I know how much people worry about their pets when they're not with them.
I'll keep you updated as agreed, and where appropriate I may send photos or messages so you know how your pet is getting on.
-
I completely understand that plans can change. However, cancellations can mean that I have turned away other bookings, so cancellation charges may apply depending on how much notice is given.

For now, Dede's Pet Services is focused on providing local pet care within Bedford and the surrounding areas.
Keeping things local allows me to provide a reliable and personal service to my customers and their pets.
-
Just ask!
I'd much rather you ask something you aren't sure about than worry about it. Your pet's wellbeing is important, and I want you to feel completely comfortable and confident before booking.
If in doubt, ask Dede! 🐾
